I don’t eat much! then how come I keep gaining weight? This is the most common comment I hear from patients who come for a consultation for Liposuction and Body contouring. As they say, “The devil is in the details”. As I begin to ask about the eating habits the reality of “I don’t eat much” becomes obvious.
The basics of dieting, like fried food, unhealthy snacks, deserts and juices and drinks are just taken for granted–they are conveniently ignored. I always tell my patients that weight loss and gain is mathematical in nature. Understood that some people eat a lot and do not gain any weight while others gain weigh even with normal diet it still is indeed a mathematical fact. The diet has to be controlled till the appropriate weight is achieved.
It is a matter of awareness about the kinds of foods consumed, their nutritional value and number of calories. A little attention can go a long way. The important aspect is to firsr change and then maintain healthy habits. If you really count your calories for a few days then you will realize the number of calories consumed.
It is important to be aware that dieting is not hunger. If you tend to keep yourself hungry then you are defeating yourself, because sooner or later you will give up your dieting. You need to satisfy your hunger with proper balance of calories ans fibres. Multiple meals in a day with good supplements or fruits and vegetables will keep your hunger at bay while providing you with essetntail vitamins and minerals.
For this post just remember not to stay hungry, avoid fried food and unhealthy snacks, consume at least four or five different fruits per day and supplement your food with cereals and nuts.
